St George’s Day | Spread

Published by Alison Cross on

‘Get a dragon’ you said…
‘It will be fun!’ you said…

Today is St George’s Day and, in honour of my cousins of the red cross on white who live Darn Sarf, here’s a Tarot spread for you to try today.

This spread was originally on my FB page as a Note last year, but I thought we could add a little court card spin to it here.

Think of the issue that you wish to address through the reading…

Flick through your Court Cards and choose one that best represents:  The Maiden – this card represents your goal  and one to represent St George – this card represents YOU in relationship to The Maiden.

Then randomly select three further court cards.  These represent

The Dragon – what holds you back from achieving your goal

The Sword – the energies of this court card will help drive you forwards

The Shield – the energies of this card indicates something you would do well to protect against

Your final card in the spread (selected from anywhere in the remained of the deck) represents what might happen if you CAN slay the dragon using the Sword and Shield info and obtain The Maiden. The Likely Outcome card.

Would love to know how you get on with this variation on the original FB spread!

The Tarot's Court Cards are my specialist area.Β  They talk to me. Not LITERALLY though ....

So, your goal is the caring, sharing Queen of Cups – entirely suitable for a Tarotist considering Tarot! The questing and questioning Knight of Swords represents you and standing in the way is the impatience and enthusiasm of the Knight of Wands.

The Dragon's desire to progress perhaps more quickly than one ought (a very attractive prospect lemme tell you, for the Knight of Swords too – he likes a bit of speed too!) . Helping you combat this demon is the Knight of Cups – good ally! Sounds contradictory – but his tendancy to dream and burble along may help combat the Wands desire to drive forward – and ultimately THAT will help you. You will do well to protect yourself from the energies of the Page of Swords – maybe the desire to book learn is not the best way forward for you, maybe a more contemplative (meditations?) route may help you reach the Maiden better? So, if you can bear all the other cards in mind and act accordingly the likely outcome is 2 Pentacles – you achieve balance and manage to juggle your ability to move/learn quickly with your slower, more imaginative and 'inner' Cups approach?

What do you think yourself?

Well I worked out the gist of it, but got a bit stuck with the Knight of Wands. I felt overall it was a good spread and that things would work out. I also felt that the Page could represent conflicting ideas from other writers or book, but I guess you said that but in a slightly different way. The 2 pentacles I saw that I would have to juggle in order to make my life balanced to fit it all in.
Did I select correctly? As in I hand picked the first two, shuffled and randomly selected the other three?
    This is fun!!

Yes – you selected correctly! πŸ™‚

The Knight of Wands is a great guy, so if you feel like you are getting carried away with his boundless enthusiasm, it's not the worst thing in the world! It might just take you a little longer to win the Maiden πŸ™‚

Right, tried this today.
I Picked:-
Queen of cups maiden
Knight of Swords St George
Knight of Wands Dragon
Knight of Cups Sword
Page of Swords Shield
Likely outcome 2 Pentacles
I was thinking about my learning of the Tarot
What do you think to that?
